The police booked a girl for stealing Rs6 lakh and ornaments worth lakhs from his father’s house on Friday.

The incident occurred in May this year and a complaint was lodged with the police one-and-half month later while the case has been registered now.

Harjit Singh of Dhanoe Khurd stated to the police that his daughter studied at an IELTS centre near Guru Nanak Dev University. In May, she went to the institute but did not return. Later, he found that Rs6 lakh, earned after selling crops, with around 300-gm gold ornaments, was missing from the house, he said.

Harjit said he came to know that she had relations with Nishan Singh of Hardo Rattan village and had eloped with him. The case was registered following a probe by DSP Attari and taking legal advice of district attorney.
