The barricades near the Jaura Phatak railway tracks, which were put up to prevent people from crossing the tracks after the train tragedy that took place on Dasehra in which 59 people lost their lives, were found dismantled here on Wednesday.

The barricades were put up as a part of measures taken by the Railways to check unauthorised crossing of the railway tracks of nearby residents. It has also put up barricades on the other side of the tracks after the accident which are, however, intact.

Residents of the area were seen crossing the tracks and even pushing their bicycles instead of using the road, which increases the distance by only around 200 metres.

“We get infuriated when such an accident occurs but we forget everything after a few days and have no regard for rules and regulations which are for public safety,” said Jagwant Singh, a resident.

Food vendors near the accident site said the barricades were dismantled by unknown persons in the night. “We all had seen these iron bars lying like this in the morning,” said a vendor while pointing at the barricades.
