Poor roads demand attention

AMRITSAR: Even though the city managed to win the Smart City tag for itself, but several civic issues need to be addressed.

Amritsar, June 24

Even though the city managed to win the Smart City tag for itself, but several civic issues need to be addressed. The terrible condition of the roads is one issue that demands the attention of the authorities. Even though there are a large number of roads in poor condition, be it Bypass Ring Road to Majitha or the road towards the railway station. The roads are either completely damaged or patches have come up on these roads. There are roads in the city which need special attention of the authorities, as they need to be repaired or reconstructed.

The road from Pultighar Chowk going towards the Islamabad area is in a terrible shape, especially the stretch near the railway crossing in that area. The entire stretch is broken and there are gaps and potholes, making driving extremely difficult for commuters. The situation becomes worse when it rains, as the entire stretch becomes slippery. “Nothing can change here, the road is in a poor condition. I was going with my wife and a child on a bike and I found the road was really rough. I had to balance my bike,” said Jatinder, a commuter. — TNS
