Bhavan’s Kala Kendra presented a Punjabi play, ‘Faisla’, in collaboration with Virsa Vihar, under its cultural and performing arts programme. The play was written by Dr Shankar Shesh and directed by Amandeep Singh. Dr Nanak Singh, Principal Shri Guru Teg Bahadur College for Women, Amritsar, graced the occasion as the chief guest.

A tragic and serious play, Faisla is an adaptation of Dr Shesh’s original play Fandi, written in the 1970’s. Dealing with the theme of mercy killing, or euthanasia, the subject of the play remains relevant over time.

A truck driver, who has spent his entire earning in taking care of his ailing father, faces social prejudice and judgement while deciding to take him off life support.

The play ended on an introspective note, with audience deciding to themselves if the decision of the protagonist was right or wrong.
