Amritsar, October 19

A schoolteacher was bitten on her leg by two stray dogs in New Kangra Colony here on Thursday. The teacher has been identified as Shivani Sharma.

Councillor Monika Sharam, who resides in front of the victim’s house, came out and rescued her. Shivani was taken to a hospital where she has had over 20 stitches.

Despite repeated announcements, the MC has failed to start sterilisation of stray dogs in the city. MC officials are unaware of the status of the sterilisation project.

Dr Navjot Kaur, an official, said, “I am on leave and the sterilisation project was in the tendering stage.”— TNS
