STF ADGP for speedy investigation, freezing of peddlers’ properties

AMRITSAR: Special Task Force (STF) ADGP Gupreet Kaur Deo on Friday stressed on devising new strategies to nail the drug peddlers besides disposing of the NDPS cases pending with the department by completing the investigations soon.

Special Task Force (STF) ADGP Gupreet Kaur Deo on Friday stressed on devising new strategies to nail the drug peddlers besides disposing of the NDPS cases pending with the department by completing the investigations soon. She also emphasised on identifying the properties of the notorious drug peddlers, who have been convicted by the courts, and get them freeze. Deo also asked the police officials to tighten the noose around the big fishes of the illegal drug trade.

It was Deo’s first meeting with the border range police officials after taking over the reigns of the ADGP STF. She was accompanied by STF IG RK Jaiswal.

Besides Police Commissioner SS Srivastava, others present at the meeting included SPS Parmar, IG Border Range, DCPs of Amritsar City, SSPs of Amritsar Rural, Batala, Tarn Taran and Gurdaspur and STF AIG.

Talking to police officials, she said that in order to nail the drug peddlers, it was necessary to get the cases registered against them and take it to the logical conclusion by concluding the investigations soon. She said the police should also identify properties made by these drug peddlers with the ill-gotten money and get it freeze.

Earlier, she visited Amritsar Central Jail and Outpatient Opioid Assistant Treatment Centres. She also held a meeting with administrative and health officials in which the district monitoring team discussed various programmes under DAPO/ BUDDY programmes.
