Travel agent booked on charge of rape

AMRITSAR: The police have booked a travel agent for allegedly raping a 20-year-old girl on the pretext of sending her abroad. According to the police, the suspect took the victim to a room near the District Courts Complex and committed the crime.

The police have booked a travel agent for allegedly raping a 20-year-old girl on the pretext of sending her abroad.

According to the police, the suspect took the victim to a room near the District Courts Complex and committed the crime.

The suspect has been identified as Kala Singh, a resident of Chhann Ghoga village. The police said the incident took place on July 2 this year while a complaint was registered on Wednesday evening.

Harsandeep Singh, SHO, Bhindi Saida police station, said the medical examination of the victim would be conducted on Friday.

A case under Sections 376 and 506 of the IPC has been registered against the suspect.

The victim told the police that the suspect picked her from her house around 10 am and took her to Amritsar for submitting an application for preparing the passport.

She said at that time, the suspect took her to a room near the courts complex on the pretext of having tea. The victim said the suspect raped her and threatened to get her family killed if she told anything about it to her family members.

The SHO said the victim’s family approached them only on Wednesday after five months of the incident. He said an investigation was on and raids were being made to arrest the suspect.
