Youth dies of ‘drug overdose’

AMRITSAR: A youth reportedly died of drug overdose at a village in the Vallah area here on Monday. The deceased has been identified as 23-year-old Jagroop Singh of Vallah.

A youth reportedly died of drug overdose at a village in the Vallah area here on Monday. The deceased has been identified as 23-year-old Jagroop Singh of Vallah.

According to members of the deceased’s family, Jagroop had consumed some drug and went for sleep, but he did not wake up.

Jagroop was putting up with his elder brother and he was reportedly addicted to drugs for five years and was admitted to de-addiction centres twice.

Deceased’s uncle Kashmir Singh said despite tall claims of political parties, drugs were easily available in the area.

Now, the figure of deaths due to drugs overdose reached 20 in the district in the past two months.
