Four booked for demanding dowry in separate cases

BATHINDA: The women’s police station has registered a dowry case against three Bhikhi residents.

The women’s police station has registered a dowry case against three Bhikhi residents. Anu Bala, a resident of Rampura Phul, stated in a complaint to the police that her husband Jiwan Singla, a resident of Bhikhi, along with his father Satpal Singla and mother Murti, used to harass her for dowry. The police have registered a case against the accused under Sections 498A, 406, of the Indian Penal Code.

Another dowry case was registered against a resident of Maharashtra. Gurpal Kaur, resident of the Hazura Kapura Colony in the city, alleged that her husband Bhupinder Singh, a resident of Maharashtra, demanded dowry from her. No arrest has been made in the cases yet.

Two held with illegal arms

The police have arrested two persons with illegal weapons. Those held have been identified as Jagga Singh and Jagdeep Singh, both residents of Shekhpura. The police have also recovered two .12 bore country made pistols and six live cartridges from their possession.

officials said a police party while checking vehicles at the Shekhpura village recovered two weapons from the accused. A case has been registered under Sections 25, 54, 59 of the Arms Act at the Talwandi Sabo police station.
