3 women booked for jewellery theft

BATHINDA: The police have booked three unidentified women, who had disguised themselves as customers and decamped with gold earrings worth Rs 90,000 from a jewellery shop on April 25 at Sikri Bazaar.

The police have booked three unidentified women, who had disguised themselves as customers and decamped with gold earrings worth Rs 90,000 from a jewellery shop on April 25 at Sikri Bazaar.

According to the police, the owners of the jewellery shop have identified the accused women after they were shown CCTV footage of similar robbery incidents carried out at Sunam, Ludhiana and Kapurthala. 

Davinder Singh, Station House Officer (SHO), Kotwali police station, said, “After the owners of the jewellery shop identified the accused women from the CCTV footage of robberies conducted at Sunam, we have photographs of the accused now. These women struck at different districts, following similar modus operandi. However, we are yet to trace the accused.”

“We have registered an FIR against the three women under Section 380 of the Indian Penal Code,” Singh added. — TNS
