Bathinda, October 21

Dengue is spreading its tentacles with its larvae found from more than 1,600 places in the city in the last two months and more than 130 persons tested positive for dengue till now.

However, the Municipal Corporation of Bathinda (MCB) and the Health Department claimed that there joint teams were creating door-to-door awareness regarding the disease in the city and even after recovering the larvae, they were killing them on the spot.

The MCB claimed that they had also issued challans to owners of the place where the larvae were recovered. Though the MCB was conducting fogging in the city with four big machines, dengue larvae were being found from residences.

Now, the MCB has planned to purchase five new head shoulder fogging machines. The MCB sanitary branch has prepared an estimate of the machines, which will be taken up for discussion in the upcoming F&CC meeting in the coming days.

Finance Minister Manpreet Singh Badal had also issued strict directions to the MCB officials to deal with dengue strictly. Even directions have also been given to start door-to-door fogging with portable machines in each and every ward in the city.

Owing to limited resources, fogging cannot be started in all the wards. This issue was raised by many councillors during the general house meeting and even Congress councillors had taken up this issue with Manpreet Badal.

A senior MCB official claims that to conduct fogging in internal areas and narrow streets, they have made a plan for purchasing five new head shoulder fogging machines. After taking approval from the F&CC meeting soon, these machines would be purchased and put on use.
