Players from all across the state showcased their athletic prowess during the State Paralympic Championship held at Guru Kashi University (GKU), Talwandi Sabo, on Wednesday.

Union minister Harsimrat Kaur Badal was the chief guest on the occasion. In her speech, she lauded the efforts of the organisers and encouraged the players to give their best shot in the championship.

As many as 200 differently abled players participated in four different games — badminton, archery, powerlifting and field and track events — in the championship. The selected players from the championship will take part in the National Paralympic Championship to be held in Tamil Nadu in March.

The championship was organised in the memory of international shooting player Sippy Sidhu, who had died a few years ago. Family members of Sippy were also present on the occasion.
