Diwali celebrated by women cell at GKU

BATHINDA: To celebrate Diwali, the women development cell of Guru Kashi University organised a competition on diya and thali decoration and debate.

To celebrate Diwali, the women development cell of Guru Kashi University organised a competition on diya and thali decoration and debate.

The event was organised ahead of Diwali so that students can decorate their homes with handmade material. The purpose was to inculcate the creative skills among girls.

Vice-Chancellor Dr JS Dhillon appreciated the efforts of Sunita Sukhija, co-coordinator of the women development cell, emphasised that Diwali should be celebrated in an eco-friendly way.

Dhillon said these types of competitions were the need of the hour in the modern creative world.

The judges of this competition were Sunita Sukhija and Rozy Rani and the host college of debate was College of Basic Sciences and Humanities.

The first position in the debate was secured by Rekha and Gagandeep Kaur from College of Basic Sciences, the second position was bagged by Veerpal Kaur and Arshpreet Kaur from College of Basic Sciences and third place was won by Sukhdeep, Pooja Singla and Mandeep Kaur from College of Commerce and Management.

The host college of diya and thali decoration event was University College of Commerce and Management.

The first position in this event was secured by Sukhpreet Kaur, Manpreet Kaur and Satpal Kaur; the second place was bagged by Tanu Rani, Jyoti and Ekta; and the third position was won by Jasveer Kaur and Poonam.
