Linking of Aadhaar card, voter ID cards halted

BATHINDA: The work of linking Aadhaar cards with the voter identification cards has been halted following the directions issued by the Election Commission of India after the Supreme Court of India ruled that it was not required.

The work of linking Aadhaar cards with the voter identification cards has been halted following the directions issued by the Election Commission of India after the Supreme Court of India ruled that it was not required. The information was given by the Deputy Commissioner of Bathinda Dr Basant Garg here today.

Deputy Commissioner of Bathinda Dr Basant Garg further stated that pertinent directions have been issued to the Election Registration Officers of the Lok Sabah constituencies of Rampura Phul, Bhucho Mandi, Bathinda urban, Talwandi Sabo and Maur.

Deputy Commissioner of Bathinda Dr Basant Garg added that the work, which was being undertaken by teachers and employees of various government departments, will not be continued.

Deputy Commissioner of Bathinda Dr Basant Garg also urged the voters that in case any officer demands for their Aadhaar card details for any election-related work, they must call the election officer of their area or call at the office of the District Election Officer.
