Power Minister Gurpreet Singh Kangar handed over appointment letters to 233 qualified candidates for the posts of lower division clerk in PSPCL during a function at Rampura Phul on Friday.

Speaking on the occasion, Kangar said, “Under Ghar Ghar Rozgar initiative of the state government, we have handed over appointment letters to all the selected candidates. Moreover, around 800 dependents of those employees of PSPCL who died in service, have been given jobs on compassionate grounds.”

Kangar said in compliance with the directions issued by CM Capt Amarinder Singh, the PSCPCL was committed to implementing consumer-friendly schemes and facilities for the welfare of power consumers.

He said, “PSPCL has so far collected revenue of more than Rs 10,000 crore by digital means which is 50 per cent of the total receipt. In the series of providing better facilities to electricity consumers, 250 ATM card swap machines are being installed at the cash counters and in a short span of time, scan system (Bharat IQ Code) is going to be launched.”

He apprised that PSPCL had started a key awareness drive among the electricity consumers for payment of bills by digital means, which would bear even better results in the coming days.

He said the corporation was supplying 24-hour uninterrupted power to all categories of consumers of Punjab. During the current season of wheat crop, the agriculture power consumers were supplied eight hour uninterrupted supply on every alternate day while vegetable cultivators were getting daily supply for four and a half hours. Recently, many consumer-friendly facilities and schemes had been introduced by the corporation that includes easy documentation needed for change of ownership of rural tubewell connections. Besides, for agriculture tubewell consumers, the ‘Save Water Earn Money’ scheme has been implemented, the main purpose of the scheme is conservation of Punjab’s precious water.
