Muktsar, January 9

The administration through the District Red Cross Society has initiated a project ‘Imdad’ to help the poor people get treatment from private hospitals in the district. The administration is taking the assistance of the Indian Medical Association (IMA) on the project.

Under the project, as many as 14 private hospitals have agreed to provide benefit of Rs15,000 or bear 10 per cent of the total expenses incurred on treatment, whichever is lesser, of two patients each per month.

The pact is signed between Deputy Commissioner MK Aravind Kumar, who is also Chairman of the District Red Cross Society, and Dr Arpana Raj, president, IMA, Muktsar.

The DC said, “A large number of people daily come to my office for financial assistance. Therefore, the project has been initiated. The needy can give their applications in Room No. 34 at the District Administrative Complex here. Their applications will be uploaded on a special portal with details. Thereafter, the patient will be referred to a hospital.”

Meanwhile, IMA members said it was a noble act so they gave their nod to support the needy.
