Some members of the Sikh community today observed a protest at Gurdwara Singh Sabha on Gurdwara Road here, accusing the management of stealing and misusing the money donated by devotees.

The controversy had started a few days ago when someone allegedly caught a senior member of the management committee stealing money while counting and made a video.

The protesters Harmandar Singh, Prithvipal Singh, Sukhdev Singh and some others alleged, “The present management is having control over the gurdwara for past about 20 years. A number of people were lodging complaint against them of stealing and misusing money. Earlier, some fraud had come to light while issuing the bogus receipts of the donation. Now, a video of stealing donation amount has come to the light. If the management failed to take action in this regard, we will intensify the stir.”

Meanwhile, Gurcharan Singh, president of the gurdwara management, has already resigned from the post. The executive committee has even elected a new president. However, the protesters are demanding suspension of whole management of the gurdwara over this alleged episode.
