Trials to select players for the upcoming State Teachers’ School Games were conducted in the city on Sunday.

More than 200 teachers from all across the district participated in 10 disciplines on the first day of the trials. In the two-day trials, on the first day teachers vied to get top spots who were seen sweating out at the Multipurpose Stadium.

In the 100-m race, 43 racers in the men’s category and nine racers participated in the women’s category. In the 200 metre race, 17 players in the men’s category and six women participated in the women’s category. In the 1500 metres race, 20 players participated in the men’s category and 2 players participated in the women’s category.

In shot put, 19 players participated in the men’s category and 11 participated in the women’s category. There was sizeable participation in football, table tennis, triple jump, discus throw, javelin throw and long jump.

The selected players would be participating in the three-day State Teachers’ School Games to be held in Ludhiana from December 26 to 28.
