3 booked for cheating, human trafficking

PATIALA: The police have registered a case against three persons under the Prevention of Human Smuggling Act. Complainant Sohan Singh of Old Moti Bagh near Sular alleged that the suspects duped him of Rs 1.10 lakh on the pretext of getting him work permit in Malaysia.

The police have registered a case against three persons under the Prevention of Human Smuggling Act.

Complainant Sohan Singh of Old Moti Bagh near Sular alleged that the suspects duped him of Rs 1.10 lakh on the pretext of getting him work permit in Malaysia.

The suspects have been identified as Tania of New Lal Bagh in Patiala, Abdul Majid Khan of Nasik and Jagsir Singh of Passiana.

The police said the suspects duped Sohan of Rs 1.10 lakh on the pretext of getting him work permit in Malaysia. They claimed that Sohan and Rajwinder Singh were later taken into custody at the Malaysian airport and sent back to India.

The victim said when he asked the suspects to return money, they refused to do so.

A case has been registered against the suspects at the Passiana police station under Section 420 (cheating and dishonesty) of the IPC and Section 13 of the Punjab Prevention of Human Smuggling Act. — TNS
