9 Punjab rowers in Asiad squad

CHANDIGARH:Nine rowers from Punjab, seven men and two women, will be representing India in the upcoming Jakarta Asian Games.

Nine rowers from Punjab, seven men and two women, will be representing India in the upcoming Jakarta Asian Games.

In the men’s rowing team, Olympian Swaran Singh Virk from village Dalelwala in Mansa, Sukhmeet Singh from Kishangarh Farwahi, Bhagwan Singh from Thatthi Bhai in Moga, Manpreet Singh from Data, Malkiat Singh from village Asal Uttar in Tarn Taran, and Jagbir Singh from village Khurda in Shaheed Bhagat Singh Nagar have made it to the Indian team. Harpreet Kaur from village Sihonmajra in Ropar and Navneet Kaur from village Sirthala in Ludhiana have been included in the women’s team.

Pooja in doubles sculls team

Chandigarh girl Pooja Sangwan has made it to the doubles sculls team. Pooja will be in action at Jakabaring Sports City lake in Palembang from Aug 19 to 24. She is a trainee of Lake Sports Complex for the last six years and is being trained by coach Arvind Sehgal.
