Yograj Singh and Amandeep scored a brace each to help Chandigarh XI beat BSF 6-3 on the second day of the 29th Lal Bahadur Shastri Hockey Tournament at the Sector 42 Sports Complex, here, on Tuesday.

BSF took an early lead when Amit Saroha scored from a penalty corner in the fifth minute of the match. But the hosts were up to the task and restored the parity through skipper Gaurav Tokhi, who successfully scored from the spot in the 11th minute.

With the scores level at 1-1, Yograj scored his first goal of the match in the 20th minute to put Chandigarh XI in lead. However, the hosts could not hold to the advantage for long as Saroha (30th) and Ramanpreet Singh (45th) struck in space of 16 minutes to put BSF back into the driver’s seat.

As the fortunes kept swinging, Yograj (55th) and Amandeep (56th, 59th) struck in quick succession to hand the advantage once again to the hosts.

Sahibjeet Singh then scored another goal in the 64th minute to ensure a 6-3 win for Chandigarh XI. The hosts had yesterday beat CISF with an identical margin.

Meanwhile, in the second match of the day, PNB drubbed EME 6-1. Gagandeep (Jr) scored a hat-trick (34th, 44th, 64th), while Gurjinder Singh (11th), Abhisek (56th) and Sukhjit Singh (69th) pumped in a goal each for the bankers. Skipper Gurjinder Singh (39th) was the lone scorer for EME.
