Gautamvir bowls St Xavier’s to victory

Chandigarh, December 9

Gautamvir claimed a six-wicket haul as hosts St Xavier’s Senior Secondary School, Sector 44, registered an eight-wicket win over Saupin’s School, Sector 32, in a St Xavier’s Inter-School League match here today. 

Opting to bowl, Gautamvir justified his captain’s decision as he took 6/8 to bundle out Saupin’s School for 86 runs in 18.5 overs. Tanishq and Manmeet took two wickets each. 

Karanveer (43) did the bulk of scoring for Saupin’s School. 

Needing to score just 4.35 runs per over for victory, the hosts rode on Tanishq’s 40-ball 53 to romp home in the ninth over. Harshul contributed 16 runs to the chase. 

Ayush propels AKSIPS 

Earlier, Ayush Mittal had claimed a six-for to help AKSIPS, Sector 41, defeated St Mary’s School, Mohali, by eight wickets. 

Batting first, St Mary’s were bowled out for 45 runs in 11.4 overs as Mittal-led AKSIPS attack struck at regular intervals and did not allow the side to break free. 

In reply, AKSIPS scampered home in five overs, with Pushkar hitting a brisk 16. — TNS
