Patiala, December 2

Acting on The Tribune report the Government Medical College (GMC) authorities re-allowed a professor through an office order on November 28 to take theory classes of the MBBS students. The said teacher was stopped from teaching MBBS students without his knowledge.

In his complaint to the principal, Dr Iqbal Singh, had stated that he was teaching central nervous system (CNS) to the MBBS students, however, the topic was handed over to another faculty member with lesser teaching experience. He had been teaching MBBS students since 2006, Dr Iqbal stated in his complaint.

Moreover, the assistant professor had termed the decision to debar him from teaching as harassment and complained about it to the authorities.

Dr Iqbal Singh alleged that he was continuously harassed by his department by various means of discrimination.

The GMC authorities have now allowed Dr Iqbal Singh, assistant professor, Physiology Department, to teach subjects, which he was earlier teaching to the MBBS students.

In a communiqué to assistant professor from the GMC principal, the authorities allowed him to teach all subjects, which he was earlier teaching.

Dr Iqbal Singh said, “I am relieved now that I am allowed to teach MBBS students again. It is difficult for me to stay away from teaching as it is my passion. I have been teaching students since 2006. I am thankful to the principal for re-allocating my teaching subjects.”
