MP Kirron Kher today laid the foundation stone of modern community centres in Sector 21 and Ram Darbar here today. These centres are being reconstructed after dismantling the old structures.

These community centres will be the best of its kind in the city covering 20,552 sq ft area in Sector 21 and 18,413 sq ft in Ram Darbar. These would be constructed at a cost of approximately Rs 5.80 crore in Sector 21 and Rs 5.29 crore in Ram Darbar.

The community centres will have a main hall, an office, a kitchen, separate toilets for men and women, a library and a gymnasium.

Kher asked the councillors to get the bylaws amended so that religious functions could also be allowed in community centres.

She said the centres were strategically located to serve citizens. These were used for cultural programmes, marriage functions and other social activities.
