Chandigarh, June 13

It seems the zeal and passion of MC employees for pedalling their way to office on Wednesdays has died out.

Almost all employees went to office by cars and two-wheelers on Wednesday. Only MC Commissioner Jitender Yadav and three other civic body employees, including two women, reached the office on cycle.

Yadav, who holds the additional charge of MC Commissioner for a week after KK Yadav proceeded on the leave, pedalled to the UT Secretariat building.

In March this year, he had passed an order that all MC employees, including officials, shall come to the office on cycle on Wednesdays. Later, the new MC Commissioner, KK Yadav allowed relaxation after employees requested him to allow them to come on motorised vehicles during summer.

When contacted, Jitendra Yadav said he had decided to follow his own order. He said the decision was taken to promote cycling, which would help employees keep fit. It was a decision taken in their interest, he added.
