Nabha, November 23

Despite Forest Minister Sadhu Singh Dharamsot’s assurance that no worker would be sacked, anganwadi workers continued their dharna and relay hunger fast for the second day near the minister’s house.

Dharmasot, who arrived in the town today morning, met the anganwadi workers and assured them that under the new policy, no worker would be sacked. He urged them to lift the dharna and told them that their jobs were secure.

However, Shanti Devi, President of the Anganwadi Employees’ Union, Nabha Division, rejected the minister’s assurance and said unless and until Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh did not meet the delegation of their union, they would continue to hold the dharna across the sate till November 30.

She said if the government failed to accept their demands till November 30, they would be forced to intensify their struggle by involving their family members.
