Naman steers Chandigarh to victory; P’kula beat Ambala

CHANDIGARH:An all-round performance by Naman Bansal helped Chandigarh register a five-wicket win over Yamuna Nagar in their Haryana Inter-District Championship match here on Saturday.

An all-round performance by Naman Bansal helped Chandigarh register a five-wicket win over Yamuna Nagar in their Haryana Inter-District Championship match here on Saturday.     

Put in to bat, Bansal-led Chandigarh attack bundled out the visitors for just 114 runs in 29 overs. The skipper returned with figures of 4/53, while Malik (2/11) and Sarthak (2/13) took two wickets each.

Rohit Gupta (35) and Parampreet Singh (33) offered some resistance to the Chandigarh attack but could not help their side reach a respectable total.

The hosts though made a heavy weather of the chase as they lost five wickets before Bansal and Bheem Kumar stitches an unbeaten 51-run partnership to steer the side home in the 26th over.

While Bansal remained not out on 25, Kumar stayed unbeaten on 18. Rohit Gupta (2/31) and Parampreet Singh (2/8) grabbed two wickets apiece for the visitors.

Nihal leads from the front

At JR Institute of Cricket Technology in Barwala, Panchkula beat visitors Ambala by 84 runs. 

Opting to bat, the hosts rode on skipper Nehal Pajni’s 112-run knock to score 245 runs in 43.4 overs. Harsh Rana remained not out on 52.  

Abhinav was the most effective bowler for Ambala, claiming 5/47 in 9.4 overs. Milan Kamboj took 3/59.

Needing 4.92 runs per over for victory, Ambala could only manage 161/9 in the allotted 50 overs. Aryan picked 3/33, while Bablu Rajput accounted for two wickets.  

Hritik Singh (49) and Rishant Kohli (42) did the bulk of scoring for the visitors.
