While MP Kirron Kher maintained that the Metro project was not viable for the city, former Union Railway Minister Pawan Kumar Bansal backed it. Bansal said the project was proposed to end the traffic congestion in the city.

At a press conference in Sector 22 today, he said the BJP-led government at the Centre was serving interests of the big corporate houses.

“The first year in the office has been a complete failure for the BJP government. All claims of BJP leaders regarding development have fallen flat,” he said.

Pardeep Chhabra, president of the Chandigarh Congress, termed Kirron Kher’s one year as an MP a flop show. He said instead of working for the people, she worked for herself.
