Members of the PGI Nurses Welfare Association today wore black badges over non-fulfilment of their pending demands.

Satyaveer Singh Dagur, general secretary of the association, said nearly 1,500-1,600 nursing staff wore black badges to express their anger without interrupting the patient care services at the institute. They would intensify their protest if their demands were not accepted.

He said their main demands included re-fixation of pay of the nursing division with effect from January 1, 2006, DPCs for promotion to the post of senior nursing officer, advertisement for the posts of nursing officer lying vacant due to resignation, retirement and non-promotion on vacant posts and arbitrarily changing of job responsibility of nursing officers without inclusion of the chief nursing officer and stake holders of the nursing association in the committee constituted on February 15, 2018.

They also sought exemption from night duty for nursing staff performing OPD duties, increase in supervisory post among the senior nursing officers to supervise the areas due to huge increase in workload and expansion of areas in the hospital and provision of government accommodation for all nursing officers.
