Three snatchings in nine hours

Three snatching incidents were reported from the city in less than nine hours. The snatchers in all incidents were pedestrians, who targeted the victims in different parts of the city. 

The first incident was reported around 5 am from Hallo Majra. The victim, Roshan Lal, reported that four unidentified miscreants thrashed him and fled away after snatching his mobile phone and a purse containing Rs 1,200.

The second incident was reported around 6.30 am. Complainant Vimal Jain, a resident of Sector 10, reported that two pedestrians snatched a gold chain from his relative, a woman, and fled from the spot. The police were informed. Later in the evening, the snatchers, Sunny (19) and a juvenile, were arrested.

The third incident was reported from a forest area near Raipur Khurd around 1.30 pm. Unidentified youths snatched mobile phones and cash from two persons. 

Sources said one of the victims, Anil, a resident of Raipur Khurd, told the police that the miscreants snatched mobile phones and Rs 200 from him and his friend. 

Woman caught stealing purses at Sadar Bazaar

High drama was witnessed when a woman was nabbed by people at Sadar Bazaar, Sector 19, while allegedly stealing purses of several women. Sources said the accused woman stole the purses by cutting their straps with a blade. The incident came to light when someone noticed it and raised the alarm. The accused woman was taken to the police station. Inspector Dalip Rattan, SHO, Sector 19, said they were verifying the matter.
