Chandigarh, November 17

Several workers of the city Youth Congress today protested against the withdrawal of the Special Protection Guard (SPG) security to Gandhi family. The police stopped many of them who were going towards the BJP office in Sector 33.

Love Kumar, president, Youth Congress, Chandigarh, and city Congress president Pardeep Chhabra led the agitation. The workers shouted slogans against the Union government for withdrawing the SPG cover to Gandhi family.

The All India Congress Committee (AICC) had launched a nationwide protest and directed its state units to oppose the removal of the SPG security to the Gandhi family. The decision to take away the SPG cover was taken by the Centre recently after a review of the security cover to three Congress leaders.
