New Delhi, December 19

With an effort to make dent in the vote bank of the Congress and the AAP, the BJP has constituted committees to work in the localities that are predominant by the people of Poorvanchal in unauthorised colonies.

The BJP is concentrating in Kirari, Burai, Vikaspuri, northeast and east Delhi areas where Poorvanchalis are in majority. The BJP has also identified areas in south Delhi. On the name of development and with a hope that the unauthorised colonies will be approved, the electorates of unauthorised colonies used to cast their franchise in favour of the Congress, said a senior leader of the Poorvanchal cell of the BJP.

He said with this idea the BJP has asked the Delhi government about the status of unauthorised colonies and said all necessary documents sought for approval are being collected by the department concerned.

It has also given ownership rights to original land owners in five villages who have been giving chullah tax since the time British government.

The BJP is also trying to lift ban on registry of land in unauthorised colonies. At present the property owners have power of attorney that is not considered a legal document.

He said the committee members would convince the electorates that the BJP government at Centre was taking all the steps that were in favour of property owners. If it is voted to power, all basic amenities like sewer, water, etc., will be provided in the unauthorised colonies.

The Poorvanchal leader said this tactic will also counter the AAP strategy that has been working in unauthorised colonies since beginning.
