Heavy downpour this afternoon proved a spoilsport for the exhibition owners at the fifth National Organic Farming Convention being organised at the National Institute of Technical Teachers Training and Research (NITTR) in Sector 26 here.

As many as 37 stalls were set up at the exhibition but due to rain, majority of stall owners vacated the premises.

Visibly disappointed due to bad weather, exhibitors from various states, who showcased their products, stated that till afternoon, there was a huge response from experts and farmers wishing to know about the machines and seeds put on display.

Mobin Malik from Government Polytechnic Kashipur, who displayed machines for garbage disposal and water filter, said if the rain continued tomorrow, the last day of the exhibition, they would not be displaying their machines.

A representative from a government polytechnic in Uttar Pardesh, KK Chauhan, said in case of bad weather tomorrow, they would not display their products at all. He said they hoped the weather would be fine tomorrow and in that case, they would have to leave the venue in the afternoon as their train was scheduled for departure at 4 pm.

Lokesh Kumar from Meerut said it would be dangerous if they displayed electric machines in such weather tomorrow. He said they had vending machines for demonstrations under the skill development programme and it would not be possible for them to give a demo to any visitor during showers.
