2 youths killed in Rajouri accident

RAJOURI: A family of Khawas village in the district lost two young members in a motorcycle accident while on their way to the district hospital today.

A family of Khawas village in the district lost two young members in a motorcycle accident while on their way to the district hospital today.

Another member of the family received serious injuries and is under treatment in the hospital.

Mohammad Anwar (27) and his brother-in-law Tuffail Hussain were killed in the accident.

Anwar’s 24-year-old brother, Mohammad Ashraf, who was driving the bike, received serious injuries. None of them was wearing helmet.

The police said all the three were riding a motorcycle bearing registration No JK22-8562 and were on way to the district hospital for the medical checkup of Tuffail Hussain.

“As they reached near the Power Grid station at Thudi in the vicinity of Rajouri town, a rashly driven three-wheeler hit the bike from the front, resulting in the death of Mohammad Anwar, while Tuffail Hussain was critically injured and succumbs to his injuries on way to hospital,” said a senior police officer.

“Mohammad Ashraf, who was driving the bike, also received serious injuries and is under treatment in the district hospital. The police have impounded the three-wheeler, bearing registration number JK11A-3732 and also arrested the driver of the vehicle, Akil Ahmed,” said Abdul Hamid, Deputy Superintendent of Poilce, Headquarters.

Sources said the deceased were working as labourers at Katra and had come to Khawas for a few days. The police have registered a case against the three-wheeler driver.
