A medical camp was organised by the Army at Pantha Chowk, Srinagar, to address medical requirement of the locals.

A total of three medical officers from the Army, including a civilian medical officer along with ancillary staff were involved in the camp.

A defence spokesman said approximately 265 locals, including 35 children of nearby places, were provided medical assistance.

“An awareness campaign was also conducted at the venue where health and mitigation measures on the issue like hygiene and sanitation, cold weather amelioration measures, communicable/non communicable diseases, water purification and water borne diseases were discussed and the locals were made aware of the preventive measures,” the spokesman said.

He said the local people expressed their gratitude towards the Army for coming forward for the noble cause to provide healthcare in such difficult times, especially when people are still recovering after the floods which ravaged the Valley in the recent past .
