A six-year-old boy, Rahul, who was missing since yesterday, was found dead in the basement of incomplete flats on the Kharar-Jhungian road this morning.

The police have sent the body to the Civil Hospital, Kharar, for a post-mortem. The victim’s neck was found slit.

Rahul, son of Mohinder Kummi, a migrant labourer  from Madhya Pradesh, was missing since yesterday. The family search for him, but failed to trace him. At about 10 am today, his body was spotted by some children who went to play near the spot. Rahul is survived by five sisters and two brothers.

SP (D) Jaskaran Singh Teja, DSP (D) MS Bajwa, Kharar DSP Lakhbir Singh Tiwana and Kharar SHO Satnam Singh reached the spot and started investigations.

Last evening, an announcement  was made on the loudspeaker of a gurdwara, but the boy could not be traced.

Kharar SHO Satnam Singh said the police had recovered a blade from near the body. The police have reportedly stumbled upon “some hair fisted by the boy”. The hair has been sent for DNA examination.
