Ludhiana, March 20

Due to change in lifestyle and dietary habits arthritis is now affecting people at a very young age. Earlier, people used to complain of arthritis problems in knees after 60 years. But now, due to the present diet, arthritis problems have started at the age of 30.

“A casual behaviour towards problems and not taking the right treatment can cause problems to the knees. On the other hand, if a special injection is taken in the early stages of pain, patient can be saved from the pain and operation,” said Dr Tanveer Singh Bhutani, joint replacement specialist at Eva Hospital.

He said old chronic injury of the knee and accidents cause pain too. Pain in the knees after getting up from a chair is also a sign of pre-arthritis. If this condition continues up to 12 months, chances are there that the knee has to be changed.

“As this problem arises at the age of 30 one should be careful. It is possible to treat a patient with a special injection. Although this injection is a little expensive, people prefer it,” he said.

According to Dr Bhutani, the cartilage is restored again due to the injection and the pain can be eliminated due to the necessary repair inside the knee. After its use, the need for knee replacement is also less.
