A two-day workshop, organised by the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) at Bhagirathi Vidyalya, Hari-Pur-Kalan, concluded here today. More than 70 teachers from Dehradun, Mumbai and Chennai had taken part in the workshop, based on continuous and comprehensive evaluation (CCE) assessment of academic and examination process.

Bhagirathi Vidyalya spiritual founder Tara Maa said such workshops provided a platform to evaluate and enhance the pattern of evaluation, which decides the grade and future of students.

Radha Singh, a special trainer from the CBSE, Delhi, briefed the teachers about the evaluation and assessment pattern.

She also elaborated on the positives of the continuous assessment pattern which lessens the workload on students as schools are allowed to have a flexible academic programme—having a smaller number of tests at regular intervals, instead of one annual single test or half yearly examinations during one academic session.

“If teachers give ample stress on the continuous and comprehensive pattern, the overall development of the students can be achieved. But, parents and school management also need to take it seriously. Students can’t achieve or learn everything in schools only as they spend a limited time in schools. At home, parents need to monitor their children’s academic progress,” Radha Singh said.

Bhagirathi Vidyalya principal Pushpha Kotwani said through CCE teaching methodology, students would be able to get better education and it would aid their academic as well as overall performance. Manju Tejwani, Renu Khanna, Vikas Singh, Vandana Saraswat, Rajesh Mamgain, Ravindra Kumar, Garima Goyal, Richa Kapur and Pranav Kumar are the coordinators of the event.
