Mohali, August 29

On the first working day today after the inauguration of the new District Administrative Complex (DAC) in Sector 76 here, several offices had still not been shifted from the old building in Phase I.

Work in the new building was hit as the Internet facility had not started functioning. The “path” of Sukhmani Sahib was held by the offices of the Deputy Commissioner and the SSP before starting their work from the new complex.

The offices of the Deputy Commissioner, the SSP, the SDM and the Tehsildar started functioning from the new DAC. Though registries were done by the office of the Tehsildar, online work could not be carried out by any office because of the absence of the Internet facility.

The offices of the DTO, the District Social Security Officer, the Tehsildar (Elections), the Department of Statistics and the DPRO have still not been shifted to the new complex. It is learnt that room numbers have still not been allotted to these offices. They have not yet received any directions as to when they would have to move to the new building.

It is learnt that employees had to shuttle between the new building and the old one to avail themselves of the Internet facility to complete pending cases. Hard copies were then sent to the new complex.

People who wanted to get their work done at the offices faced harassment as no online work could be carried out in the new complex today.
