Jammu, December 21

State BJP spokesman Balbir Ram Rattan today expressed concern over the deteriorating power situation in Jammu city. He urged the state government to ensure uninterrupted power supply during the winter.

In a statement issued here today, Balbir said with every passing day the mercury level was going down. “The days and nights are becoming more chilly and there is a sheet of fog in the morning and evening,” he said, adding, “Round the clock availability of electricity is must as power cuts create problems for people.”

He said the Chief Minister should realise the needs and problems of the people and see why electricity is not supplied uninterruptedly.

“The state government should set up gas turbines and diesel generators like in the Kashmir valley so that during extreme weather, the scarcity of power is mitigated, people get respite and pull through the harsh weather to keep life going,” he said.

“The Power Development Development should be more concerned, conscious and aware of the work for which it has been set up, but it is unfortunate that it does not put in the required effort to ensure regular supply of electricity,” he said.
