The Congress today lodged a complaint against Akali MLA Sarup Chand Singla, accusing him of distributing LPG gas connections and sports kits at his office on the Bibiwala road today.
The complaint was submitted by senior advocate and Congress leader Rajan Garg, who is handling Manpreet Badal’s election campaign. “The Bathinda Urban returning officer has promised to take strict action in this case of violation of the code of conduct,” Rajan said.
Later in the evening, the SDM-cum-returning officer Sakshi Sawhney conducted raids at the places where blue cards, LPG connections and sports kits were allegedly distributed. When contacted, Singla refuted the Congress allegation.
Meanwhile, a complaint was lodged against Congress candidate Preetam Kotbhai in Bhucho Mandi for taking out a roadshow.
The incharge of the local complaint cell, Harkanwaljit Singh, said at least three complaints were received yesterday and nearly 10 today. “Some of these complaints are even related to the delay in the making of voter cards,” said Harkanwaljit, adding that seven complaints were lodged on the phone.
