Cultural programme marks World Disability Day

PATIALA:The Society for Welfare of the Handicapped that manages the Patiala School for the Deaf, Patiala School for the Blind and the Patiala School for the Deaf-Blind observed International Day of Persons with Disabilities at the schools today.

The Society for Welfare of the Handicapped that manages the Patiala School for the Deaf, Patiala School for the Blind and the Patiala School for the Deaf-Blind observed International Day of Persons with Disabilities at the schools today. 

Rajya Sabha MP Avinash Rai Khanna was the chief guest and the programme was presided over by Nishith, DGM, State Bank of Patiala. Sukhminder Singh, chairman, Patiala Polytechinc College, Rakhra, was the guest of honour and philanthropist Dr SP Singh Oberoi was the special guest.

The guests were welcomed by Rahul Kumar. He conducted the proceedings in an interesting manner. A colourful cultural programme was presented by students. The highlight of the programme was a welcome song by nursery  students.  The speech by six-year-old Jasmine Kaur, a visually impaired child, was  appreciated.  The chief guest  praised the work of society and announced a grant of Rs 5 lakh. — TNS
