A day after the cavalcade of Punjab Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Singh Badal was stoned near Kandhwala Hazir Khan village in his constituency, Jalalabad, Lok Insaaf Party chief Simarjit Singh Bains took said the days of the SAD-BJP government were numbered.

“The act shows the anger of the common man suffering for 10 years under the misrule of the Badals,” he said at a programme here. The event was organised to induct SAD workers into the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP).

Bains drew a parallel between Delhi and Punjab. “Sheila Dikshit had led the Congress government in Delhi for 15 years. There, the people were not frustrated to the extent that they could attack the cavalcade of a leader. But in Punjab, the anger against the misrule has reached a tipping point.”

In the past few days, Akali leaders — including Rajya Sabha member Balwinder Singh Bhunder, Rural Development and Panchayats Minister Sikander Maluka and Khadoor Sahib MLA Ravinder Singh Brahmpura — have faced the wrath of people.

“These people (stone-pelters) are those who remained jobless or whose children were falsely impacted by the stooges of Badals,” Bains claimed.

He further said the code of conduct had been imposed and the people were desperate to oust the government. “If the Badals have faced people’s anger, what will happen to leaders junior to them? Akali workers are afraid of campaigning. So they are confined at home.”

In Delhi, the Lok Insaaf Party chief said, AAP registered a historic mandate. “Come March and AAP will rewrite history in Punjab,” he added.
