Superintendent of Police Rajesh Duggal today suspended five police officials, including three ASIs, after a video showing police officials taking bribe from a vehicle owner at a naka on the Haryana-UP border near Sanoli Khurd village went viral on Saturday. Two constables were arrested in the case yesterday and the Sadar SHO and munshi were sent to the Police Lines.

The SP has also ordered an inquiry into the matter to DSP (Headquarter) Jagdeep Duhan.

Ravidutt Sharma, a resident of Khariwara village in Mahendragarh, said he used to go to Kandhla in Shamli for bringing vegetables and mangoes daily.

The policemen posted at a naka in Sanolikhurd used to demand bribe from him and he gave them Rs 50 everyday.

On July 11, the constable demanded Rs 500. When he refused, the constable issued a challan to him. When he tried to shoot a video, the policeman thrashed him and snatched his phone.

The police allowed him to go after taking Rs 200 as bribe. He narrated the incident to Subhash, owner of the vehicle.

He complained to the SP and the IGP (Rohtak Range) and produced a video clip in which a policeman was accepting bribe from him.

“Two police constables, namely Sandeep, a resident of village Bhavar in Sonepat, and Sandeep, a resident of village Kalwa in Jind, were arrested yesterday and sent to judicial custody,” said Duggal.

“Five other employees — ASI Krishan Kumar, Bhupender and Suresh, Head Constable Vazir and constable Sandeep — were also suspended, while Inspector Vijender Singh Tyagi, SHO of the Sadar police station, and Head Constable Kuldeep Singh (munshi) were sent to the Police Lines yesterday,” the SP added.
