Legendary folk singer of Uttarakhand Chander Singh ‘Rahi’ died in New Delhi on Saturday.

Rahi held the unique distinction of singing in the pure folk form in the hill state.

He boasted of having a collection of around 2,500 folk songs of Garhwal and Kumaon.

In his music career spanning over 40 years, Rahi contributed to the preservation and promotion of Uttarakhand folk.

Rahi was born at Ginwali village in Pauri Garhwal district on March 20, 1942, and was living in New Delhi.
