With the arrest of the kingpin of a gang of women extortionists, the district police claimed to have busted the five-member gang who used to blackmail and extort money from influential people by allegedly clicking their obscene photographs. The four members of the gang are at large.

Addressing mediapersons, SSP HS Bhullar said Charn Singh of Mandi Gobindgarh alleged that the gang members removed his clothes and clicked his photos with a woman and were demanding Rs 2 lakh as ransom. The second complaint was lodged by Bhinder Kaur that Charn Singh allegedly molested and raped her and showed photographs with him.

Charn Singh said he had given Rs 60,000 as loan to one Jasbir Kaur and as per the agreement she had to pay Rs 1,500 as monthly instalment.

He said he got a call from one Bhinder Kaur to come to her residence to get the entire amount. He said when he went there, three more women came and forcibly clicked his photos with Bhinder.

He alleged that they demanded Rs 2 lakh and threatened to release the photos and lodge a rape case against him if he failed to pay. The SSP said he marked an inquiry to Amloh DSP Purshotam Bal and found that the woman was the kingpin of the gang.
