Additional Sessions Judge JPS Khurmi has convicted Sarwan Kumar of Atal Nagar, Rahon Road, for causing death of a neighbour, Surjit Singh, without intention to kill.

He was sentenced to undergo rigorous imprisonment for three and a half years under section 304-II of the Indian Penal Code (culpable homicide not amounting to murder).

However, the court acquitted his wife and co-accused, Pooja Gupta, and relative Geeta of the same locality.

A case was registered against the accused at the Basti Jodhewal police station on May 5, 2014, on a statement of Ravinder Singh, son of the deceased.

The complainant has submitted before the police that the children of the accused were making a noise on the street at around 10.30 pm.

He, along with his father, tried to stop them. Sarwan Kumar came out of his house and hit his father on the head with a frying pan.

The co-accused also hit him with legs. A bleeding Sarwan was taken to a private doctor. The next morning, they found their father dead.
