MC chief slams MLA

Kangra Municipal Council chief Suman Verma today lambasted the local MLA Pawan Kajal for allegedly making false announcements of development work without providing funds.

Suman Verma was addressing a press conference here. She said it was unfortunate that Kajal was making announcements for works but releasing no funds. She said only those works were in progress for which Transport Minister GS Bali and Chief minister Virbhadra Singh provided funds.

Verma said Kajal announced Rs 5 lakh for a road in old Kangra from school to library, Rs 5 lakh for the lights in Kangra, Rs 10 lakh for Samdaiak Bhawan and Rs 5 lakh for Ram Leela and Dushera Committee but not even a single penny was released.

Suman Verma, who is Kangra District Congress Committee chief too, said Bali released Rs 3 lakh for college road, Rs 1 lakh for cremation ground in New Kangra, Rs 50,000 for cremation ground of old Kangra where as the Chief Minister released Rs 3 lakh for drains, path and Sabzi Mandi road.

She said the MLA did not attend even a single meeting of the MC. — OC
