Militant killed in gun fight in Kupwara district of Kashmir

SRINAGAR: A militant was killed in a gun fight in north Kashmir’s Kupwara district on Monday. The militant, suspected to be a foreigner, was killed in Warnow Lolab, 100 km from here.

Srinagar, October 24

A militant was killed in a gun fight in north Kashmir’s frontier Kupwara district on Monday.

The militant, suspected to be a foreigner, was killed in Warnow Lolab, around 100 km from Srinagar.

The gun fight broke in the wee hours of Monday when a joint team of police and army launched a search operation after an input about the presence of militants in the area.

“As the search was underway, militants fired at the joint party and it was retaliated, triggering an encounter. A militant who tried to break the cordon was killed in the gunfight,” Kupwara Superintendent of Police Shamsher Hussain said. The search operation is on.
