The SAD’s student wing — Students’ Organisation of India (SOI) — has started appointing college students as the chairman, president and vice-president of schools.

Malout MLA Harpreet Singh, accompanied by SOI district president Lovepreet Singh ‘Lappi Ennakkhera’, recently presented a siropa (robe of honour) to certain boys while appointing them chairman, president and vice-president of schools in Malout.

Speaking over the phone, Harpreet said, “Youngsters must come forward in politics. Other parties, too, should set up school units.”

He added, “The students given the posts of SOI’s school wing are studying in colleges. They will only visit the schools, make the students aware of the works done by the state government and the SAD. The school students will not be asked to join SOI.”

Shubhmandeep Singh ‘Gaggu’ confirmed his appointment as the SOI schools’ president of Malout. Gifti Randhawa and Akash Sandhu have been appointed chairman and vice-president, respectively.

SOI’s Malwa zone 1 president Robin Brar was not available for comment.
